LAYFLAT TUBING (LFT)

This is a type of film which all our products start life as. Layflat (LFT) is a tube of polythene which has been squashed flat. The measurement we use when talking about layflat tubing is the width of the film.

PERFORATED ON THE REEL (POR)

This is a reel of layflat tubing which we then convert into bags / sleeves which are then perforated on the reel (POR)

GUSSETED LAYFLAT TUBING (GLFT)

This is layflat tubing which has the edge folds pushed back inside the extrusion bubble. The measurements we use when talking about gusseted layflat tubing (GLFT) are the closed or face width and the open width.

SINGLE WOUND SHEET (SWS)

Single wound sheet (SWS) is layflat tubing (LFT) which has been slit in both edge folds. The measurements we use when talking about single wound sheet (SWS) is the width of the film once it has been slit at each edge.

DOUBLE WOUND SHEET (DWS)

Double wound sheet (DWS) is identical to single wound sheet (SWS) except the film is not split onto 2 reels as both webs of film are wound onto 1 reel. The measurements we use when talking about double wound sheet (DWS) is the width of the film once it has been slit at each edge.

CENTRE FOLD SHEET (CFS)

Centrefold sheet (CFS) is layflat tubing (LFT) that has had one edge fold split open with a knife during the extrusion process. The measurements we use when talking about centrefold sheet (CFS) are the closed or face width and the open width.

JFOLD

JFold is layflat tubing that has had a narrow section slit out of one of the widths. The measurements we use when talking about JFold are the face width, the open width and the lip.

STRETCH FILM

Stretch film resembles domestic cling film and as the name suggests, stretches upon pulling. Extruded from polythene stretch film is split into 4 categories

  • Blown hand film
  • Blown machine film
  • Cast hand film
  • Cast Machine film

Stretch film can be used to secure loads to pallets. Coloured stretch film is widely used for product security (high value items) and product identification.
