TOTAL POLYFILM INVESTS IN NEW EXTRUSION EQUIPMENT

Total Polyfilm has increased the capacity of its polythene extrusion operations which are based at the Brighouse site in West Yorkshire.

 

A brand new three layer co-extrusion line was installed in September following successful commissioning trials in the Far East during August.

 

This new machine is equipped with multiple die options which will produce web widths of 400mm up to 1200mm and also a double winder to provide maximum flexibility on the type of products which can be produced.

The machine is already producing products against commercial orders including a 75mu metallic blue / white / black film which is subsequently converted in to security bags

 

Total Polyfilm is also considering additional extrusion film capacity at its Brighouse site for 2012.

JULY 2011

 

TOTAL POLYFILM INVESTS IN NEW CONVERSION EQUIPMENT

Total Polyfilm has increased the capacity of its converted polythene products business which is based at the Brighouse site in West Yorkshire.

 

A brand new fully automatic Gunter SMR perforated on a roll machine was installed and commissioned during June and is now running at speeds of up to 80 cycles per minute with a film speed of 100 metres per minute depending on material thickness and type.

 

 

Richard Illingworth, Manufacturing Manager, commented “this is the first fully automatic conversion machine with a wide width capability to be installed at Brighouse and it is producing top quality products at very impressive output levels.”

 

Total Polyfilm will also be installing additional co-extrusion film capacity at its Brighouse site later in 2011.

JUNE 2011

 

TOTAL POLYFILM WINS TWO KEY AWARDS

Total Polyfilm was delighted to receive two key awards at the recent Yorkshire Productivity Dinner held in May at The Royal Armouries in Leeds.

 

The awards were made as a result of a major initiative to train more than twenty employees at the Brighouse site in 5S Lean Manufacturing techniques that would deliver NVQ qualifications at Levels 2 and 3 to the individuals involved.

 

The first award presented to Total Polyfilm was WINNER 5S SMALL COMPANY which was awarded because of improvements made at the Brighouse site in 5S Lean Manufacturing techniques together with the continued drive for change and the ownership that had been evident throughout 2010.

Pictured receiving the award on behalf of Total Polyfilm are Paul Smith, Richard Illingworth and Warren Robinson together with Elizabeth Bonfield from Emta Awards Limited, the awarding body NVQ’s from Yorkshire Productivity.

 

The second award presented to Total Polyfilm was WINNER INDIVIDUAL AWARD SMALL COMPANY which was won by Warren Robinson from the extrusion team at Brighouse and which recognised Warren’s continued commitment after his NVQ training had been completed.

MARCH 2010

 

NEW OPERATIONS DIRECTOR APPOINTED

Total Polyfilm is delighted to confirm the appointment of Mick Downing as Operations Director for its three sites at Brighouse in West Yorkshire, Preston in Lancashire and Potters Bar in Hertfordshire.

 

Mick joins Total Polythene from a major plastics company near Hull and commented “I am delighted to have joined the dynamic team at Total Polythene and look forward to working with many colleagues throughout the business to further improve the operational performance at all our manufacturing facilities”.

 

Mick lives near the historic city of York and is married with two children.

NEW TOTAL BLOWN STRETCH FILM BRANDS LAUNCHED

Total Polyfilm has now launched a brand new range of its Total Blown Stretch film.

 

Following extensive market trials and evaluations during 2009 Total Polyfilm is now offering the following range of blown stretch films

 

TOTAL EXL
TOTAL L
TOTAL M
TOTAL H
TOTAL SUH

 

Depending on an existing specification one of the above Total brands will be equivalent in all key performance criteria but will offer very significant cost savings to our customers.

SEPTEMBER 2009

 

NEW TOTAL PRE-STRETCH FILM CAPACITY INSTALLED

Total Polyfilm has completed the installation of two new Total Pre-Stretch lines at our low cost manufacturing facility in Preston, Lancashire.

 

With an investment of £100,000 we have doubled our capacity to produce some 2000 tonnes of high quality pallet stretch wrap film each year.
